A Message from the Head Girls

Sport

A balanced and varied curriculum, incorporating both individual and team sports, is followed. The infants take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor Games lessons, from dance to football. Gymnastics is taught throughout the school and girls are able to gain the BAGA awards. Confidence and enthusiasm are soon apparent, with girls learning basic skills on the P.E. apparatus. There is an annual Infants sports afternoon. The junior girls have swimming lessons every week from Year 3 to Year 6 and prepare for Amateur Swimming Association badges. Proficient swimmers in the junior and senior departments may be invited to join the Swimming Squad which trains at Harrow Leisure Centre before school once a week. They take part in competitions at local and national level.

Netball Game In the Junior Department Games include netball, tennis, rounders, cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, badminton and table tennis, some of which are taught at the Kodak Sports Centre, Harrow.

Athletics is also part of the P.E programme. Sports Day for the Junior and Senior Departments is held as an inter-house event at the Kodak Sports Centre.

Team Shot

In the Senior Department the girls have the opportunity to receive netball coaching in Holland. The Junior Sports programme continues in the Senior Department with keen swimmers enrolling in the Swimming Squad.

The Old Girls versus PSM tennis and netball matches are much enjoyed, as is the annual Year 11 versus Staff netball match! There are annual inter-house sporting events and the girls take part in numerous inter-school competitions. All pupils are encouraged to develop their interest, pleasure and talents by participating in a large number of sports in order to promote sport as a hobby for life.
