Girls receive class music and singing lessons. We have an orchestra and choirs as well as various ensembles to maximize the girls' opportunities to play and perform together: flute choir, string ensemble, junior and senior recorder consorts, jazz band, folk guitars, for example. Individual music lessons currently available include clarinet, saxophone, flute, guitar, recorder, piano, violin, cello, double bass and singing. The girls are entered for the Associated Board examinations. From time to time they are treated to a performance by a visiting musician.
The older girls are regular concert-goers. In 2006 - 07 they attended performances by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the world premier of DSCH to commemorate the centenary of Shostakovich and conducted by his son. In 2007-08 they are attending a concert to hear Nicola Benedetti at the Royal Festival Hall and a concert with James Galway and the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican. Nine girls are looking forward to going to Glyndebourne to Verdi's ‘Macbeth'.
